The NIG Summer Internship 2026, offered by the National Institute of Genetics (NIG) and the Genetics Program at Sokendai, provides funded research exposure to outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world. The duration of the NIG Summer Internship 2026 is two months, running from June 8 to July 17, 2026. Throughout the program, students conduct independent research under the supervision of NIG investigators. Eligibility Criteria for NIG Summer Internship 2026
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Open to all nationalities
- Undergraduate and graduate students in life sciences may apply
- PhD students are not eligible
- Must have strong academic records
- Good English language proficiency
- Students planning to pursue a PhD at NIG are highly encouraged

- 4-year Bachelor’s Program: Must be in the 3rd year
- 3-year Bachelor’s Program: Must be in the 2nd year

Note: The internship is highly competitive. In 2025, only six students were selected from 1240 applications. Selection varies each year.
