UN Young Professionals Program 2025 applications are now open. The United Nations Young Professionals Program is a global recruitment initiative designed to attract talented young graduates from participating countries and help them begin a career with the UN Secretariat. Since the program targets beginners, applicants are not required to have previous work experience. Selected candidates receive a two years fixed term contract at the P1 or P2 professional level. All selected professionals must be willing to accept placement in any role at a UN duty station. Eligibility Criteria for the UN Young Professionals Program 2025
• Nationality: Applicants must belong to the participating countries listed for the 2025 cycle.
• Required Qualification: A completed bachelor’s degree is mandatory to sit for the UN YPP exam.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be 32 years old or younger at the time of the examination.
• Language Requirement: Fluency in English or French is required.
• Work Experience: Prior work experience is not required for eligibility.

How the UN Young Professionals Program 2025 Works
The program includes an annual competitive entrance exam. Eligible candidates must pass this exam to move forward in the YPP selection process.

Position Type, Contract Level, and Duration
Selected candidates receive a two year fixed term contract at the P1 or P2 professional level. After the completion of two years and based on performance, candidates may be considered for a continuing contract.
Meaning of P1 and P2 Levels
P1 and P2 levels are entry level positions in the United Nations professional category.
• The P1 level is for individuals holding a bachelor’s degree with no work experience.
• The P2 level is for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with no experience.
Duty Station and Work Location
Successful candidates must be willing to work at any UN duty station or field operation for a minimum period of two years.
